Flashback PTN
tied by Timothy Kinion, USA
Recipe
Hook #16 nymph
Thread: Uni-Thread 6/0, brown
Abdomen: Pheasant Tail, 6 strands
Rib: Fine Copper Wire
Wing Case: Pearlescent Flashabou
Thorax: Peacock herl
Tying instructions:

Start thread. Wind back to tail. Build a small "hump" of thread right where the bend of the hook starts. Tie in pheasant tail using a light turn so that the PT ends will spread slightly. Run thread to the front of the hook. Wrap PT forward to thorax area. Tie off and clip. Tie in wire. Wrap wire back in open spirals to the tail area. Wrap wire back to thorax area. Tie off and clip. (For a slightly heavier version, just add a few turns of copper wire at the thorax before you tie it off and clip it.) Use a pinch and a light turn to tie in the Flashabou for the wing case. Tie in peacock herl. Wrap to form a good thorax. Tie off and clip. Pull Flashabou forward over the peacock herl. Tie off and clip. Build the head. Half-hitch or Whip finish. Cement.
